Indian challenge sniffed out at the Knoxville Challenger

The Indian challenge in the USD 50,000 Knoxville Challenger (Hard Court) ended in both singles and doubles.

In the men’s singles, Prakash Amritraj lost to wildcard John-Patrick Smith of Australia 6-4, 4-6, 3-6 in his first round match. Somdev Devvarman, who was up against American top-seed Vincent Spadea, conceded his first round match after losing a fiercely fought first set 6-7 (7).

In the men’s doubles, the unseeded Indian duo of Ashutosh-Harsh lost their quarter-final (second round) match 3-6, 3-6 to top-seeded American pair of Rajeev Ram and Bobby Reynolds. Prakash Amritraj and his brother Stephen Amritraj lost 3-6 6-7 (2) to the French pair of Olivuier Charroin and Nicolas Tourte in their first round.
