Somdev Devvarman’s run to the final of the Music City Challenger (Nashville, USA) had included victories over 2 Top 100 ranked players - Bobby Reynolds (in the semi-finals) and Jesse Levine (in the quarter-finals). Somdev’s winning streak came to an end in the final on Sunday as he lost to 4th seed American Robert Kendrick 3-6, 5-7. The Indian’s performance at this ATP Challenger should see him move up a few notches in the ATP rankings. He is currently ranked 241 and he would be hoping to break into the Top 200 going into 2009.
Meanwhile, the Indian pair of Ashutosh Singh and Harsh Mankad too lost 4-6, 5-7 to the Australian-American pair of Carslen Ball and Travis Rettenmaier in the finals of the doubles event.
Update (November 11, 2008): Somdev Devvarman has moved up to 201 in the ATP Rankings. He has now gone past Prakash Amritraj in the ATP rankings and become the top-ranked Indian tennis player.

This kid is gonna make it big for sure.
All he needs is more match practise and i was told that he need to work on his service.
Wanna see him on action and stupid indian channels are busy covering US collegiate Gymnastics event, just because there is some skin show
LOL…skin show it is I think…all the best to the losers who watch it for that…I am really surprised at the lack of attention Somdev is getting…we finally have a wonderful singles player and nobody is bothered…Apollo is spending 100 crores on producing a grand slam champion and tennis has been decently popular in this country…wonder what is wrong…I would definitely wanna watch him play…Infact I am dying to do so…hope he gets in to the major ATP tournaments soon
Just a matter of time friends.
